Security Update for “Dirty COW”

Vital Effect is sending this notification to inform our customers of a newly identified security vulnerability called “Dirty COW” Linux Kernel Vulnerability CVE-2016-5195.

The following Red Hat Product versions are impacted:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

At Vital Effect we use Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. To keep our server secure we already have a patch ready and will implement it this week. In addition to the “Dirty COW” patch, we will be doing some other security updates on our server.

The great team of engineers at our server farm have tested the patch against our managed build and we will implement the patch right away to ensure continued secure service for all our clients.
